To: Cabela's California Customers From: Cabela's Communications Subject: California Assembly Bill 962 Date: Sept. 22, 2009 We are writing to inform you of pending legislation that will restrict purchases of handgun ammunition in California and will terminate our ability to service your needs for certain products. On Friday, Sept. 11, the California Assembly passed Assembly Bill 962, by a 44-31 vote. Among other regulations, AB 962 would: Ban all mail-order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition. Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale or the display of handgun ammunition in a manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without assistance of a vendor or employee. Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee. That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes: The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee. The date of the sale or other transaction. The purchaser's or transferee's driver's license or other identification number and the state in which it was issued. The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred. The purchaser's or transferee's signature. The name of the salesperson who processed the sale or other transaction. The purchaser's or transferee's full residential address and telephone number. The purchaser's or transferee's date of birth. The bill is on the desk of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, where it awaits his consideration. He will have until Oct. 11 to sign or veto the bill. If he does not veto the bill, it will become law. If you wish to comment on AB 962, you may contact Gov. Schwarzenegger by phone at (916) 445-2841, or via fax at (916) 558-3160. To e-mail Gov. Re: California Ammunition Restrictions Proposed
I got the same email this morning, from another forum(for California) that I frequent though.
I still gotta get back to them about helping to "combat"() this. Now I'm having second thoughts on selling some of my ammo. |

Re: California Ammunition Restrictions Proposed
Just what we fu*king need in the midst of California's worst economic crisis ever, ANOTHER costly and useless (let alone unconstitutional) program.
If you wish to oppose this, follow these instructions courtesy of CalGuns.net: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...1&postcount=10 Step 1: Call 916-445-2841 (Schwarzenegger's Phone) Step 2: Press 1 for English. Step 3: Press 2 for commenting on a bill on the Governors desk Step 4: Press 2 for AB962 Step 5: Press 2 for Oppose Hang Up Normally, I don't recommend bothering with contacting government officials, but Schwarzenegger actually might veto this due to cost and heavy opposition. |
Re: California Ammunition Restrictions Proposed
Sent an email, called the number. The incrementalism here in the Golden State is like the plague. Not to mention it's almost a safety hazard having thousands of rounds stacked up here there and everywhere. It would be so much easier to buy on the fly. But then, California breeds bad politicians like weeds grow in ditches.

Re: California Ammunition Restrictions Proposed
The CA state legislature just keeps pushing, to no avail, against the law abiding people out there. I moved out of there in 2005 because the quality of life in CA seemed to get worse every year. I think anyone who is worth saving should consider getting out of that state. The only future it has are higher taxes, earth quakes, more congested commutes, more illegals bankrupting the state and more gun laws to oppress the law abiding.

The black market will fill peoples needs and the state will get less tax money. Looks like nobody really needs to smash commiefornia, as it is smashing itself all on its own.
Commiefornias checklist: Screw the farmers .... check. Kill business and commerce ..... check. Make life safer for rapists and thieves.... check... |

I am a fifth generation California native, and I am not willingly leaving my home-state.
I left a message for the Gubernator. |

CA is a lost state in many ways. I can never see the power shifting back in the favor of gun owners or the 2nd Amendement. The oppressive firearms laws were just one of many reasons why I got out. CA is falling ever so slowly, as will the rest of the country. When it gets really, really bad I would not want to be in the LA basin. |
